Bloomberg Athens Deputy Bureau Chief Paul Tugwell says Greece's wildfire response is under severe strain as gale-force winds, dry conditions and difficult terrain hamper firefighting efforts, with major blazes continuing to spread in central and southern parts of the country. He says European Union countries are coordinating firefighting resources across borders as climate change extends the wildfire season and raises concerns about the long-term economic and insurance costs of increasingly destructive fires.
