Readers respond to Polly Hudson’s article about unsocial behaviour in theatres, following the actor Rosamund Pike calling out an audience member for texting during her play Inter Alia My husband and I are regular theatregoers, so I can fully sympathise with Polly Hudson, not so much with the talking and shrieking – though we have encountered it many times – but just general bad behaviour ( It’s not just Rosamund Pike who struggles with badly behaved theatre-goers. I was nearly beaten up by a hen party, 3 June ). A recent trip to Dundee Rep to see Medea was marred by the guy sitting across the aisle in the front row keeping his waterproof jacket on and fidgeting through the entire performance, so all you heard was rustling.
