Carol Ross is part of a group of women who meet regularly to read the classics. She says the works have cemented friendships and enhanced lives Reading The Odyssey has been a very enjoyable experience for me and my friends ( Christopher Nolan has made an Odyssey for our times – by sacrificing the delicious darkness of Homer’s epic, 25 July ). We are a group of six women in our 70s who have been meeting regularly over the last three years, predominantly to read the classics. We meet in each other’s houses, each of us taking a turn in reading out loud, and finish with a cup of tea and, if we’re lucky, a piece of cake. Continue reading...
