House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner met in recent weeks and spoke about possible issues of common ground, according to reports, landing t he top House Democrat in hot water with some on the political left who have taken issue with the reported get-together. The men talked about housing, immigration and high living costs as possible categories of common ground, the New York Times reported. Kushner, the husband of Trump's daughter Ivanka, suggested that the lawmaker should meet with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, two individuals with knowledge of the meet-up noted, according to the outlet. Fox News Digital reached out to Jeffries' offices and the White House on Monday. "The American people want bold change and that’s what House Democrats will deliver. In every conversation that we have with the Trump administration, we will continue to make it explicitly clear that the affordability crisis is not a hoax and nothing short of transformational policy change is acceptable. We are fighting for an affordable America. The question is whether Republicans will join us," he said in the statement. Some on the left have objected to the reported meeting between the congressman and Kushner.
