Andrew Bailey, the co-deputy director of the FBI , announced in a social media post on Monday that he will resign from the agency, citing family reasons. Bailey, who stepped into the post in August 2025, said he would be returning to his family in Missouri. "With great pride in what we have accomplished, I am announcing that I am stepping down to return to my family in Missouri," Bailey said in a post on X. "I am confident Director Patel will continue to reform the FBI, combat violent crime, defend the homeland, ensure strong organizational accountability and restore public trust in this institution of excellence." He then served with his FBI co-deputy, Chris Raia, the former assistant director in charge of the bureau's New York City Field Office, in a continuation of the nontraditional co-deputy structure initiated by FBI Director Kash Patel .
