Follow the latest updates live Get our breaking news email , free app or daily news podcast The chair of the Adelaide festival board, Tracey Whiting, is the latest person to resign after a controversial decision to disinvite the Palestinian Australian author Randa Abdel-Fattah from the 2026 writers’ week program. Whiting said her resignation overnight would allow the body to “refresh its leadership and its approach to these circumstances”. As we reported yesterday, three other board members resigned from the festival this weekend. Recent decisions were bound by certain undertakings and my resignation enables the Adelaide Festival, as an organisation, to refresh its leadership and its approach to these circumstances. My tenure as Chair has been immensely enjoyable, as has working with the terrific AF team. I look forward to the future success of the Adelaide Festival. Continue reading...
