AOC backs Florida Dem Angie Nixon for US Senate: 'I’m proud to endorse her'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez , D-N.Y., has endorsed Florida Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Angie Nixon ahead of her November matchup against Republican Sen. Ashley Moody. "At a time when working families are fighting tooth and nail to make ends meet while the Administration sells them out to corrupt special interests, we need to stand behind leaders who are accountable to working people and stand up to greedy corporations," Ocasio-Cortez said, according to Nixon's campaign . Nixon, a Florida state representative, will face Republican U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody in the special general election contest. Sunshine State Gov. Ron DeSantis handed Moody a U.S. Senate seat last year. Marco Rubio, who vacated the seat, departed the Senate prior to the end of his term in order to serve as secretary of state.
